Today's Learning Goals:

To familiarize students with the expectations of the course and with each other.

Getting to Know YOU! (And following instructions.)

  1. Fold a piece of cardstock in half.
  2. On one side write your name in colorful letters.
  3. In the top left corner, finish the sentence "My family......"
  4. In the top right corner, finish the sentence "My favorite thing to do it...."
  5. In the bottom left corner, finish the sentence "I really don't like..."
  6. In the bottom right corner, finish the sentence "Other people find me...."
  7. In the top middle, finish the sentence "One day I'd love to..."
  8. In the bottom middle, finish the sentence "I'd love to meet..."

After everyone has answered the questions, wait for my cue. At the same time, everyone will quietly stand up and hold your card facing away from you. We will all walk around the room reading each others' cards. NO TALKING ALOUD.

When I call time, we will all sit quietly and discuss the information we learned about one another.

Syllabus and Wiki

We will review the syllabus and wiki site as a class. If you do not understand something, PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS! Chances are, you are not the only person in the class that does not understand.

I AM poem

Students will create an original poem about themselves. This will be your first blog post later this week.

Homework:

  • Join the class wiki. Please use either your first name & last initial, or first initial and last name. Visit Mrs. Huff's wiki page for instructions on how to join.

"I have read the course syllabus and shared this information with my parent(s). I understand that in order to be successful in this class, I will need to live up to the expectations outlined by my teacher."

  • Make sure you keep up with your password! You will share your password and username with me on Monday.
